ROSEAU, DOMINICA — Business Training Centre announces the launch of Green Skills Training for Dominica’s Climate-Resilient Workforce, an eight-month training project that will certify 85 Dominicans in six green economy trades. The project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) 2026-2027 cycle.
The programme responds to Dominica’s need for a skilled workforce capable of delivering the country’s climate adaptation and green economy goals. Participants will receive free CPD-accredited certification in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Solar and Thermal Energy Installation, Land Surveying and Cost Estimation, Construction Administration, Motorbike Mechanic with Green Vehicle Technology, and Digital Green Skills covering Cybersecurity and Data Entry.
“Dominica has committed to becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation, and that commitment requires a workforce trained to build it,” said Mrs. Lucia Stedman, Managing Director of BTC. “This programme gives 85 young Dominicans real, marketable skills in the trades our country needs most. We are deeply grateful to the Government of Canada for making this possible.”
Participants aged 18 to 45 will be recruited islandwide, with a minimum 60 percent women target for the Digital Green Skills cohort. All courses are three months in duration and delivered by qualified Dominican instructors with formal industry credentials. Graduates will receive internationally recognised CPD certification and support with employer placement through BTC’s confirmed industry partnerships.
The programme runs from July 2026 to February 2027, culminating in a Green Economy Graduation Ceremony on February 19, 2027, recognising all 85 certified graduates.
