Business Training Center

Roseau, Dominica – January 14, 2026 – Business Training Center (BTC), a leading
educational institution in Dominica with over 27 years of excellence, is proud to announce a
strategic partnership with St. Joseph University to offer an accessible pathway for students
pursuing careers in nursing. This collaboration comes at a critical time when nursing education
costs are rising globally and access to affordable training is becoming increasingly limited.
A Timely Solution for Aspiring Nurses
Beginning in July 2026, new policies in the United States will significantly reduce federal
student loan funding for graduate-level nursing programs, capping annual loans at $20,500 and
lifetime borrowing at $100,000 for nursing students. This change is expected to create barriers
for thousands of aspiring nurses seeking to advance their careers.
The BTC and St. Joseph University partnership offers an affordable alternative. International
students can now travel to Dominica to pursue their Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) education
at a fraction of the cost they would incur in the United States or other developed nations.
Clear Pathway to Nursing Careers
Students who require foundational preparation can enroll in BTC’s Diploma in Nursing Assistant
and Patient Care program, which serves as a preliminary pathway to entering the LPN program
at St. Joseph University. This structured approach ensures students are fully prepared for the
rigors of professional nursing education.
“We are delighted with the overwhelming response we have received from students enrolling in
our health courses,” said Lucia Stedman, President of Business Training Center. “This
partnership with St. Joseph University represents a significant milestone in our mission to
provide accessible, quality education. We specialize in second-chance education, and some of
our graduates have gone on to obtain Bachelor’s degrees in Midwifery. This demonstrates the
solid foundation our programs provide for advanced study in healthcare.”
Addressing Local and Global Needs
The partnership also addresses a critical need within Dominica. High demand for nursing careers
has exceeded the capacity of local institutions, leaving many aspiring nurses without options.

This collaboration ensures that every Dominican who dreams of a career in nursing now has a
viable pathway to achieve that goal.
Additionally, BTC’s certification courses, offered in collaboration with Training Express in the
United Kingdom, provide students with internationally recognized credentials that open doors
across the Caribbean and beyond.
Educational Tourism in the Nature Isle
BTC is committed to promoting educational tourism in Dominica. International students who
choose to pursue their nursing education on the island will benefit from affordable tuition, a
supportive learning environment, and the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and rich
culture of the Nature Isle of the Caribbean.
“We invite students from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and across the
Caribbean to consider Dominica as their destination for building a rewarding career in
healthcare.”
